Drug treatment outpatient Hawai

Outpatient drug treatment programs vary in the types and intensity of services offered. Low-intensity outpatient drug treatment programs may offer little more than drug education and counsel. Other outpatient drug treatment models, such as intensive day treatment, can be comparable to residential programs in services and effectiveness, depending on the individual's characteristics and needs.

All in all, the ultimate goal of an outpatient drug treatment is to help the individual recover from drug addiction so that they may re-enter society and lead responsible, successful drug and alcohol free lives.

Drug treatment residential Hawai

Inpatient drug treatment is one of many methods whose ultimate goal is long-term abstinence from drugs and alcohol. Those who attend an inpatient drug treatment use the new tools they have learned to help them re-enter society and lead responsible, successful drug and alcohol free lives.

Inpatient drug treatment centers offer support and structure for men and women seeking help for problems with drugs or alcohol. Participants reside on location for the course of the treatment program; lengths of stay vary and may be individualized. Care at an inpatient drug treatment is provided 24 hours a day 7 days a week; this is only one of the benefits of attending an inpatient drug treatment.

Bio physical Treatment Hawai

The bio physical treatments are a long term inpatient treatment program. All students can stay as long as they need to. In general the length of the program is about 3 to 5 months. They do not use psychiatric medications as part of their treatment philosophy. Their program not only addresses the person's drug addiction but also improves the individuals ability to identify and solve problems, improve communication and study skills.

Alsoit helps to restore personal ethics regarding their responsibility toward their family and others in general.Detoxification Program eliminates accumulated drug residuals from the body through an all natural regimen of vitamins, exercise and sauna thereby reducing the risk of future drug cravings and relapse due to left over drugs in the body.

Twelve steps Hawai

The 12 steps that underlie these programs are based on traditional spiritual practices. Respect for all religious traditions is expected in these programs. While a few individual meetings may show a tendency toward a specific religion, this is not in the spirit of true 12-step recovery. You should have no problem finding meetings and groups that respect all religious traditions and do not push any particular theology or belief system.

Residential Treatment and Rehabs cannot officially call themselves "12 step programs" because Alcoholics Anonymous and the programs that have branched from that group (Narcotics Anonymous, for example), cannot promote themselves. The traditions require anonymity and their only "promotion" is by way of example (how the members live their lives).

"The Fellowship has adopted a policy of "cooperation but not affiliation" with other organizations concerned with the problem of alcoholism."

Meth treatment Hawai

Methamphetamines are classed as a stimulant or an upper. Many believe that it is possibly one of the most addictive types of drugs available. Methamphetamines are classed into various types of subsets but are most commonly referred to by names such as speed or meth. Methamphetamines that are processed into crystalline-types of drugs are called such names as crank and ice. Meth drugs can be consumed in different ways which include inhalation of powders and ingestion of pills; these drugs can be smoked through a reduction of their crystal or powder form.
Most commonly these drugs are called crystal meth, a name coined by younger party-going generations. Meth drugs are also injected intravenously. Methamphetamines are extremely popular because the initial effect of the drug is euphoric. This side effect created by over stimulation of certain nerve receptors in the brain creates the user to feel as though they are invincible and able to do more in less time. People who use meth on a regularly basis are often unable to sleep and often lose their appetite and have increased levels of regular functions such as heartbeat and respiration. Over a period of time consistent meth users, many suffer from decreased motor skills including physical coordination and vision, as well as certain health symptoms such as the possibility for stroke and heart failure.

Crack Cocaine treatment Hawai

Crack is the street name given to the freebase form of cocaine that has been processed from powdered cocaine hydrochloride to form a smokable substance. The term "crack" coined due to the crackling sound heard when the mixture is smoked. This heavily abused substance; crack is processed with ammonia or baking soda and water, and heated to remove the hydrochloride.
Because crack is smoked, the user experiences the high in less than 10 seconds, usually as soon as they exhale it. This rather immediate and euphoric sensation is one of the reasons that crack became enormously popular in the mid 1980s. Another reason is that crack is somewhat inexpensive both to produce and to buy.
The costs of treating the abuse and addiction of all forms of coke continue to rise with each passing year. Funded treatment programs are beginning to be scaled back.

Oxycontin treatment Hawai

Oxycontin is designed to be swallowed whole; however, abusers ingest the drug in a number of ways. Oxycontin abusers often chew the tablets or crush the tablets to snort the powder. Because oxycodone is water soluble, crushed tablets can be dissolved in water and the drug can be injected. The latter two methods lead to the rapid release and absorption of oxycodone.
Oxycontin and heroin have similar effects; therefore, both drugs are attractive to the same abuser population. Oxycontin is sometimes referred to as "poor man's heroin", despite the high price that’s demanded on street level.

Ecstasy treatment Hawai

MDMA, more commonly known as Ecstasy, is a synthetic, psychoactive drug chemically comparable to the stimulant methamphetamine and the hallucinogen mescaline. Common street names for MDMA include Ecstasy, Adam, XTC, hug, beans, and the love drug.
Research in animals reveals that Ecstasy is neurotoxin; whether or not this is also true in humans, it is currently an intense investigation. Ecstasy is also known dangerous to health and, on rare occasions, lethal.

MDMA exerts its primary effects in the brain on neurons that which utilize the chemical serotonin to communicate with other neurons. The serotonin system plays a key role in regulating mood, aggression, sexual activity, sleep, and sensitivity to pain.

Hawaii drug problems
Drug Situation: The Hawaiian Islands location is approximately 2,500 miles from the continental United States. The population is compounded of several ethnic groups, to include native Hawaiians, Japanese, Korean, Pilipino, African-American, and Caucasian. All of the illegal drugs which are available from the mainland can also be found in the islands, with cocaine HCl, crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine ("ice"), Ecstasy, and OxyContin being the leading threats of the state. Hawaii also remains the producer of some of the highest-grade marijuana in the country (such as "Kona Gold"), and it is suspected that much of it is expedited to the mainland.

Cocaine: Cocaine HCl remains popular and readily available throughout Hawaii, and is commonly used in conjunction with other drugs including alcohol, heroin, and/or marijuana. The tourist industry throughout the state perpetuates the demand for higher quantities, therefore ounce type dealers flourish in the bar, nightclub and hotel scenes. Crack cocaine too, is also readily available. Most crack is converted "as needed," usually an ounce or two at a time, although occasionally pound quantities have been known to be smuggled into Hawaii.

Heroin: A good portion of the heroin seized in Hawaii is black tar heroin, although there is also the smuggling and distribution of Southeast Asian heroin.
Methamphetamine: Crystal methamphetamine ("ice") is the primary drug of choice in Hawaii, where it is readily available, with the majority of it converted into ice prior to distribution. In the past few years, ice-related crimes have increased as the drug epidemic has increased in popularity and availability.
Club Drugs: There has been a steady increase in the use of Ecstasy in Hawaii among teens and young adults 20-30 years of age.

Marijuana: Marijuana is accessible throughout the better part of Hawaii, which maintains its status as a "national leader" in the production of high-grade marijuana. Homegrown marijuana, either harvested from sophisticated indoor grow operations or from outdoor grows, remains a staple for the local demand and for export to the mainland. Medical marijuana certificates are also a concern on the islands, where local users are permitted to grow several plants at their residences for personal consumption.

Other Drugs: The most common sources for diversion of pharmaceutically controlled substances continue to be doctor shoppers; employees who steal from the drug inventory; prescription fraud, including forgeries and other types of prescription falsification; and physicians who indiscriminately prescribe and write prescriptions for reasons other than legitimate medical purposes, outside the scope of their professional practices. Hydrocodone is one of the most abused pharmaceutical drugs in Hawaii.

According to 2002-2003 information from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), approximately 34% of Hawaii residents felt that smoking marijuana once a month posed a great risk.

Additional 2002-2003 data from the NSDUH show that 1.70% of Hawaii citizens reported past year dependence on illegal drugs.

Juveniles

Among Hawaii high school students surveyed in 2003, 33.8% admitted using marijuana at least once during their lifetimes.

About 4.1% of Hawaii middle school students surveyed in 2003 reported using cannabis for the first time before age 11. Among high school students, 9.9% admitted using it for the first time before age 13.

Around 17.8% of Hawaii middle school students and 28.7% of high school students reported being offered, sold, or given an illicit drug on school property within the past year.
