GHB treatment outpatient

Outpatient alcohol rehabs are facilities that you attend and you don't live in the facility as a residential program would. The techniques used in an outpatient treatment are counseling, twelve steps, meetings, bio-physical treatment etc.
Outpatient drug rehabs have different types of services that they are offering. Low-intensity outpatient drug treatment may offer a little bit more than drug education and counsel. Other outpatient drug rehabs, such as intensive day treatment, can be in comparison to residential programs in services depending on the individual's characteristics and needs.

GHB treatment residential

Drug treatment residential is a program that people will stay in the facility for the duration of the program. Residential facilities are adapted to harder case of addiction as it restrain the accessibility for drugs and alcohol.
The environment has always been a trigger for a person who is addicted to drugs and alcohol. Just the fact that someone is not in his environment is therapeutic by itself. Unfortunately, this is not enough.
When looking for a residential program, always make sure that it is long enough. Their staff ratio is good. The philosophy of the program is not that it cannot be cured.

GHB addiction treatment

Gamma hydroxybutyrate. Liquid ecstasy," "Somatomax," "Scoop," "Georgia Home Boy,"
GHB Effects
At lower doses GHB has a euphoric effect similar to alcohol, and can the feeling of the user feel relaxed, happy and sociable.
Higher doses can make the user feel dizzy, sleepy and can sometimes induce vomiting, muscle spasms, and loss of consciousness.
Overdoses will always cause loss of consciousness (temporary coma) and will slow down breathing. Sometimes, and especially if mixed with alcohol, GHB can slow breathing down to a dangerously low rate, which has caused numbers of deaths.
GHB Description
GHB (Gamma hydroxybutyrate) usually comes as an odorless liquid, slightly salty to the taste, and purchased in small bottles. It can also been found in powder and capsule form. It is classified as a sedative-hypnotic, and was originally developed for a sleep-aid.
Since about 1990, GHB (gamma- hydroxybutyrate) has been abused in the U.S. for euphoric, sedative, and anabolic (body building) type effects. As with Rohypnol and clonazepam, GHB has been part and parcel with sexual assault in cities throughout the country. Reports from Detroit indicate liquid GHB is being used in nightclubs for effects similar to those of Rohypnol. It is also common in the club scene in Phoenix, Honolulu, and Texas, where it is known as "liquid ecstasy," "somatomax," "scoop," or "grievous bodily harm." In Miami, poison control center calls have reflected problems associated with increased GHB use, including loss of consciousness. In New York City, there have been reports of GHB use with those in the fashion industry. In Atlanta, it is widely used as a synthetic steroid at fitness centers and gyms. Coma and seizures can occur following abuse of GHB and, when combined with methamphetamine, there appears to be a synergized risk of seizure. Combining use with other drugs such as alcohol can result in nausea and difficulty breathing. GHB may also mimic withdrawal effects, including insomnia, anxiety, tremors, and sweating. Because of the concern about Rohypnol, GHB, and other similarly abused sedative-hypnotics, Congress passed the "Drug-Induced Rape Prevention and Punishment Act of 1996" in October 1996. This legislation increased Federal penalties for use of any controlled substance to assist with sexual assault.
Habitually ingested in a liquid mixture; most commonly mixed with alcohol.

History

Synthesis of the chemical GHB was originally reported in 1874 by A. Saizew, but the first important research into its use in humans was conducted in the early 1960s by Dr. Henri Laborit to use in studying the neurotransmitter GABA. It rapidly found a wide range of uses because of its minimal side effects and controlled action, the only difficulties being the narrow safe dosage range and the dangers presented by its combination with alcohol and other CNS depressants. GHB was widely consumed in France, Italy and other European countries for numerous decades as a sleeping agent and an anesthetic in childbirth, but problems with its abuse potential and development of newer drugs have led to a decrease in legitimate medical use of GHB in recent times. The usual medical applications for GHB currently are in the treatment of narcolepsy and more seldom alcoholism.
Commonly, GHB has been synthesized from GBL (gamma-butyrolactone) by adding sodium hydroxide (lye) in ethanol or water. Lately, GBL has become regulated and more circuitous routes have to be taken such as those starting with THF (tetrahydrofuran).
